The Atchison After School Club has been serving local families since 2002. We provide a safe, supervised space where kids do homework, learn new skills, and actually have fun after school.

After School Program

What we do every day

Open 3:00 to 6:00 PM on school days. Kids get picked up from school and brought here to do homework, have a snack, and hang out.

Homework & Academics

Dedicated time for homework with staff around to help. We also run reading programs and I-Ready for skill building.

S.T.E.M. Lab

Hands-on science, tech, engineering, and math projects. Kids get to build, experiment, and figure things out.

Games & Free Time

After the work's done, kids get to play. Sports, games, hanging out with friends—whatever they feel like.

Transportation: AES and AMS students get picked up by USD 409 Bus Barn and dropped off at the club.
Summer Camp

June & July Programs

Different activities each week—sports, cooking, field trips, crafts. Keeps kids busy and learning all summer.

What Summer Looks Like

Summer Camp is offered during the months of June and July, providing members with a vibrant and engaging place to spend their summer days. The program creates opportunities for children to connect with their community through sports, hobbies, and hands-on activities that encourage creativity, teamwork, and personal growth.

Beyond offering fun and enrichment, Summer Camp provides a safe, supervised environment where members can stay active and engaged throughout the long summer months. It also supports the Mission of the Atchison After School Club by allowing staff to continue to foster learning through our Academic Programs, helping students maintain their skills and curiosity even when school is out.

Rates vary each year. We offer full-summer pricing or weekly rates. Contact us for current info.

Winter Break Program

A festive, joy-filled experience offered during the school's winter break. The program blends holiday excitement with continued learning, giving members a cheerful place to grow, play, and stay engaged while school is out.

Children enjoy magical holiday moments with special visits from Santa and the Grinch, participating in themed games and celebrating the season together.

A favorite tradition! Members get the chance to mix, decorate, and enjoy seasonal treats, adding a cozy, delicious element to the festivities while learning basic kitchen skills and teamwork.

Holiday-inspired arts and crafts give children the opportunity to create heartfelt keepsakes for parents and guardians.

Winter Camp keeps our Academic Programs active, helping students maintain their skills through hands-on learning and guided activities.

An annual showcase of student artwork that has grown into a beloved community tradition and fundraiser.

A Tradition of Young Talent

The Art Exhibition, first launched in 2019, has grown into a vibrant annual tradition for the Atchison After School Club. What began as a simple showcase of student creativity has evolved into a meaningful fundraiser and silent auction, celebrating the artistic talents and unique perspectives of its young members.

Each year, families and community supporters gather to admire the students' artwork—pieces that reflect not only skill, but confidence, imagination, and personal expression.

As the exhibition continues to expand, it stands as a reminder of how creativity can bring a community together and how empowering young artists can spark lasting impact. The After School Club is proud to carry this tradition forward year after year, nurturing both artistic growth and community connection.

Our Mission

To connect youth and community by creating inclusive spaces where young people are empowered, supported, and inspired to build strong relationships, develop leadership skills, and contribute meaningfully to the world around them.

Our History

The Atchison After School Club, formerly the Boys & Girls Club of Atchison, was founded in 2002 as a drop-in safe place in the community for youth. Our original mission was "To enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens."

In 2025, the Club continued service under our new name: the Atchison After School Club.
